The Real Me Time

The Real ME TIME

Its 6.45 am on Sunday. Sunday mornings are supposed to be lazy for a person like me who loves to sleep till late for feeling the Sunday vibes. But there is something off about this morning that didn’t let me chill and almost pushed me out of my bed, make me my mug of coffee, sit in my balcony chair and soak myself in the soft rays of sun. The breeze is still pleasant and people around seem to be in the same lazy mood so it’s mostly quiet.

Because of the quietness outside I could listen to the noise inside. I knew the conversation with an old friend last night which ended with “NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME” was bothering me.

It was so relatable!!!! Quite a few times, I have felt the same and I’m sure many of you too. We always strive for others to understand us. Sometimes our words, sometimes our silence. But here the question is: Do we understand ourselves? Do we communicate enough with ourselves? Many a times I find people initiating actions or responding to situations in miserable ways and I am not an exception. Here, the point is not about how others feel or respond. The point is how we feel or react to the situations. Do we really bother enough to dig deep down within ourselves to understand the reasons of our actions or reactions? We expect other to talk to us, ask us about various things and figure out what kind of feelings, emotions and thoughts are running through our minds then why don’t we do the same with ourselves? Not only before acting or responding but, even after that we hardly care to introspect about the same.

We might not consider this as a big problem, but I believe that human who is a social animal: it’s a lot about what we feel, the relationships we build and the vibes we exchange. Whether it is our personal, professional or social surroundings. Our emotional behavior affect many lives around us in terms of our vision, decisions and actions. So, understanding ourselves plays a major role in Self Care. Knowing us is the only way to create a better version of us and make world a better place for us and others. I call it a real ME time

With last sip of coffee, I promise myself that I will be my best friend, with the confidence that it will make my vision, behavior and communication clearer. While moving away from balcony chair, my steps are firm and mind is charged. With a smile on my face, I wished “Happy Morning Hetal”
